Field Measurements of Pv Module Performance Using a Handy Tool
نویسندگان
چکیده
Si based PV technology is now matured and operating life of PV module in the range of 20 to 30 years is guaranteed. During this period, many times, it is required to find out the health of the PV module in the field in order to estimate the performance degradation after certain time period. This paper is concerned with field testing of the performance of PV panels, using a very handy tool, for evaluation of the effect of varying atmospheric conditions on device performance, i.e. to reveal the characteristics of PV modules in actual conditions. The issues that are of primary interest in these field tests are the module ratings, the modules' response to extreme weather conditions, and the possibility of performance degradation during long-term outdoor usage. The paper describes the preparation of the measurements including realization of the entire measurement system, which is in form of an automatic small size, easy to carry and usable handy tool. The most important part of the measurements is the IV-curve readings, and the construction of a functional IV-measurement system. Other part of the work includes the selection of a functioning sensor lineup and the programming of the data acquisition system (DAS). Environmental measurements are planned in a way that it facilitates the quality control of the measured IV-data as well as general analysis of the meteorological variables.

Analysis of Temperature Effect on a Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic Module Performance
In this paper, the effect of the cell-temperature on the performance of photovoltaic (PV) module is evaluated. The evaluation is based on a mathematical module (single diode equivalent circuit) and practically based on solar module tester (SMT). Solara®130W PV crystalline silicon module was used in this simulation. The SMT is able to supply a constant irradiance level (1000W/m2) or any other de...

This paper proposes a new configuration for solar energy conversion systems. One challenging issue of the photovoltaic (PV) systems is partial shading, and in this paper Module Integrated Converters (MIC) are used to overcome this problem in PV arrays. A few boost converters are employed as MICs to mitigate the shading effect. Furthermore, to reduce the cost and to increase the system performan...
متن کاملThree Dimensional Transient Numerical Modeling of Temperature Distribution and Output Power in Photovoltaic Module
According to the effect of temperature on the output power of a photovoltaic module, this research tries to calculate the temperature distribution in a photovoltaic module by numerical solving of the energy balance equations. Therefore, its output power can be accurately predicted. For this purpose, several photovoltaic modules are modeled in detail in the COMSOL software. A new method for calc...
متن کاملComparisons of Experimental and Simulated Velocity Fields in Membrane Module Spacers
Spacers are used in spiral wound and plate and frame membrane modules to create flow channels between adjacent membrane layers and mix fluid within the flow channel. Flow through the spacer has a significant beneficial impact on mixing and resulting mass transfer rates but is accompanied by an undesirable increase in pressure drop. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a common tool used to eva...
متن کاملA novel model for photovoltaic array performance prediction
Based on the I–V curves of a photovoltaic (PV) module, a novel and simple model is proposed in this paper to predict the PV module performance for engineering applications. Five parameters are introduced in this model to account for the complex dependence of the PV module performance upon solar-irradiance intensity and PV module temperature. Accordingly, the most important parameters, i.e. the ...
